Nandos chicken restaurant

The famous Nandos sauce now has chicken-only restaurants.

I have to say this – it’s the tastiest chicken anywhere.  BUT you only get chicken legs/wings and no breast.

I went for the £15.95 full chicken with fries.  I have to say I could have eaten a 2nd chicken no problem.  Their fries are great, coleslaw a good standard.  If you don’t fancy chicken on the bone, try a chicken burger which is pretty nice.  Drinks are free refills too.

Cafe Andaluz, Glasgow

Great tapas at Cafe Anadaluz is assured.  Glad they’ve now breaded/battered the calamari.

Bread is OK, I know they don’t bake it there themselves.

Meatballs are dry, but this is the only thing on the menu I wouldn’t buy.

Service is generally quite fast, a very good restaurant which caters well when parties do not know where to eat…Cafe Anadaluz has a dish to suit just about everyone.  And you can order more if it runs out!

Shenaz, Glasgow UK

Positioned in Granville St, Glasgow (behind the Mitchell library), Shenaz has been established since 1968.

Unlike other curry houses, it doesn’t produce the mainstream ‘sweet’ tasting currys.  Instead it produces something far better, the most amazing Indian food in the world.  There is little to say in respect to it’s excellence….I have eaten at the finest restaurants in the world and this is still the best for service and food.

Served quickly is the name of the game – you won’t wait long for your starters.  As soon as your starter is finished, mains will be out quick style too, even if they are busy.

Shenaz does some mediocre dishes, and some amazing dishes.  It is best to stick to the house specialities and what they are renown for.

Starters – Vegetable pakora, Fish pakora

Main – Special Beef (or special anything), Chicken Tikka, Chicken Chasni, Beef Biryani

Accompaniments – chapitis and nan breads made to sheer perfection

The Shenaz are renown for giving their supplies a very hard time – the beef and fish is excellent at all times.

Curries such as Special Beef/Chicken take in fact 8 hours to make the base sauce and as such most curry houses do not follow this amazing recipe.

You haven’t lived till you’ve been to Shenaz – booking essential at the weekend.

Pancho Villas Glasgow

Pancho Villas in Glasgow is an excellent mexican.

High ceilings, spacious open plan eating and fast service are the order of the day.

Although the standard is good, not all things are perfect.  I find the chicken fajita very very salty so would avoid.

On the other hand, Beef chimichanga is excellent as are the nachos with cheese.

Only one time has it been over spicey, otherwise excellent and evenly priced.

8/10

Le Palais Du Jardin, Covent Garden. Review

Le Palais Du Jardin was discovered purely by accident for lunch one day when shopping in Covent Garden, London.

The restaurant is split into two, a lavish bar area and a very Michelin-style seating area.  Far smarter than many restaurants I have been to.

The service is fantastic – if you want a drink, you just catch the eye of the waiter and indicate to your glass, he knows what you are drinking and comes to fill it up.  When you leave the table, a waiter will help remove your chair as you get up, just amazing service.

You may also see the chefs working hard through the glass-view kitchen.

Food, as you expect, is perfect.  A tight menu but everything is cooked and prepared to perfection.

Prices are OK too, you’re looking at £70-80 without alcohol for a meal for 2.  And they’re open for lunch.

9.9 out of 10.
